A single mother's story of love and hope

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment." 1 Timothy 6:17 (NIV) 

    

I will share a story of a Brazilian young single mother whose name is Lara. Wealth was something that she didn’t think she had. As a single mother of a toddler, everything was quiet hard for her. When she was childless her thoughts and money were all to herself. Now she could not afford to by her new cloths and staffs that before would make her happy.

One day she was invited to assist in a charity foundation, and there, she could see real suffering. Parentless children, very poor families, homeless single mothers and so on. She then, accompanied a very poor family to their small wood made shack.

The four occupants of that small shack shared a single mattress in the floor, no stove, no refrigerator and no TV for the kids. The woman was cooking in a wood fire and the food was a kind of soup made by vegetables skins.

Lara went back home to her flat of 900 square feet fully furnished. She always used to complain about the size of her house, and how she would like to have more financial condition to take her son to Disney one day.

But after seeing the situation of that poor and in deep suffering people, she decided to pray asking God for forgiveness and she gave thanks to the Lord for all He is providing for her. In her prayer she also mentioned to God that she wants to be used by Him in order to help others in need. 

Lara started to ask for winter cloths, cloths, toys, canned food and whatever else in her community in order to help other people. That was really challenging but she was determined to impact people’s life with her love.

God was really providing and through prayer, perseverance and endurance she could give love and hope for those who were in pain.

 When we give, we will receive, and God is pouring down blessings over her life as well. She learned something that we all should have in mind: doesn’t matter if our budget is big or small, we all can do something to help the underprivileged ones.

The Bible says: Mark 12:33 "And to love Him with all the heart, with all the understanding, with all the soul, and with all the strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself, is more than all the whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.

Heavenly Father, give us the heart to see the need of your people, Give us strength and condition to help them. Help us remember that true wealth is not the size of our bank account but the size of our heart, Lord provide for us so we can provide for them in, Jesus Name, Amen!

Threatening God

A couple of entrepreneurs came to me with their whole lives destroyed. They were being threatened to death and were living under such misery, that the only food they had to eat was dog food.

 They were going to a certain Christian denomination in which the pastor was teaching them all kinds of absurd. One of the things they taught to this couple, in which I was shocked and perplexed, was that the pastor of that church asked the couple to bury the Bible in case God did not answer their prayers.

How many people are being destroyed because they don’t know the Bible! If they would examine it, they would see that there is no foundation for such absurd.

The Word of God is life, and only dead things should be buried. Some people have the mindset that they shall have to be revolted against God. We shall be revolted against evil forces, but never against God!

God has nothing to do with our failures, we have the free will to choose whatever we want for our lives, if we choose wrong, we will reap the consequences of it.

That couple also mentioned that they used to pray beating the Bible on the floor in an act of “threatening” God and put Him against the wall.

Just imagine yourself arriving at home and your kid is just asking you:” What did you bring to me? If you do not bring anything to me, you are not my father!”
Some people treat God exactly like that! True love is unconditional.

God gave His only son in favor of all humans, independently if we would love Him or not.

Please analyze that, as a mother or father… 

Imagine after saying to your kid that you are sad because you could not give something for him/her, and how it would be so good to hear from them: “OK, I still love you, you are my father/mother and you are my best gift. Because of this action of love, I believe you will try your very best to give what your child is asking for.

The Heavenly Father is exactly the same. If we love Him in an unconditional way, He will pour down whatever we need and above all, He will pour down His love and blessings.

When I was a boy, I used to work in order to help my family; I used to give all my allowance in my father’s hands. He was the one giving me a little of that money. I never complained by saying that it was too little, I was happy because somehow I was helping my father with our family needs, my father was working hard in order to invest in our education.

This is what we have to understand: the more we glorify God with our lives, the more he will invest in us. 
God wants us to love Him not for the things that he is giving, but for what He is! By acting like that, He will give and invest in our lives.

Do not knock God’s door in order to “threat” Him with words of: “If you do not bless me I will leave the church, I will stop praying, I will not read the Bible and so forth.  Love Him unconditionally and he will invest in you. This is the secret why God answer some people’s prayers and do not answer other people’s prayers.

Today, that couple learned the truth and by loving God in an unconditional way, God blessed them and restored their lives

If you are facing an unanswered prayers problems, maybe you have to consider how is your love toward Jesus. Is it an unconditional love?

Problems, bills and debts

Life sometimes is quite hard. We may look around and all that we may see is debts, bills, a family member who just got sick and no money to solve our problems.

That is the portrait of so many families, an empty refrigerator, a notice to disconnect your unpaid electricity, an order of ejection from the land lord due to unpaid rental and so forth.

How to deal with so many problems? The hardest part is that when we are in need, hardly we find a friend to give a hand. We may feel so disappointed with ourselves and with life that we may end up suffering with depression and anxiety.

We look around and we simply cannot see where to go. Every way seems to be closed and some people try to forget their problems by consuming drugs or attempting suicide, mistakenly thinking that it will be the only way. 

   

The truth is that when we see ourselves in a labyrinth, sometimes we stop focusing in how to find the way out and instead, we focus in the snow ball of problems and how bigger it is getting day after day.

I’ve noticed that by contemplating our problems it just make us feel more and more depressed and far from reaching the solution. Being negative will not bring any positive results, it means, that we have to find another way to solve a critical situation.

The first step and the most important is to have a positive attitude and instead of say “I cannot” we should say: “Yes I can”.

The Bible says: 

Matthew 19:26 But Jesus looked at them and said to them, "With men this is

impossible, but with God all things are possible."

Mark 9:23 Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."

We have to recognize that we cannot overcome our problems without God and once we recognize that we have to confess it to ourselves, by putting negative thoughts and doubts away from our mind.

I know that it isn’t easy to discipline our mind and tongue in order to keep on confessing victories in the middle of a storm of problems. But I’ve seen thousands of people whose life was truly a nightmare and now they live with peace and joy.

Their secret is that they recognized that everything is possible for God, and instead of cursing life they believed that God will open the doors for them.

John 10:9 "I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go

in and out and find pasture.

Perhaps you’ve tried so many ways and it seems you are still very far from the

solution. Why don’t you give a chance for Jesus to show you the right way?

We have to do our part and God will do His part. But one thing we all shall

have in mind: Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him,

for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of 

those who diligently seek Him.

To have faith in God is to believe that He is able to restore our life even when

everything seems to be collapsing down.

Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Even if all that we see is a dark cloudy day and a mountain of bills, yet we have to believe that God will make a way and if you believe, you will see your victory.

And the second step to start solving a financial crisis is to set a plan in how to increase the family income and start paying little by little the debts, cutting of unnecessary expenses and stop making new debts.

A.M.A.S. - Now Imagine what we are going to do in the Philippines

The A.M.A.S. foundation is a worldwide association of social assistance under the chairmanship of Bishop Franciléia, it has a new project that benefits homeless children. 


The initiative is from the Coordinator of A.M.A.S., Vera Lucia Lucas, who is in charge of the work with full support of Bishop Francileia and a team of volunteers such as doctors, nurses, dentists, teachers, lawyers, hairdressers and a host of other professionals.
 

With the main objective of reaching out to people in need, the A.M.A.S. association constantly visit deprived areas and brought to them food, clothes, coats and a lot of solidarity.


The work with homeless children will be developed with meals, clothing, bath and medical, dental and psychological assistance. 

But, according to the Coordinator Mrs. Vera Lucia, the goal is to build an orphanage school in the region Parelheiros, on the southern part of the state, where the A.M.A.S. won a large area to build the school.

"The idea is to take care of these children by offering school, medical treatment and everything a child needs to grow healthy.

The work is possible, just join our forces to pull out those children who were abandoned on the streets, "said the coordinator.

She also reinforces that A.M.A.S. need help from the brothers and sisters who can donate food, clothing and shoes. Also, there is a need for volunteers.  

The A.M.A.S. is already in Japan, helping the people.
"We always need help, because unfortunately there are so many children in need".

"God's thoughts"

I remember the story of woman of God, faithful to the Lord, but unfortunately her faith was short, It goes like this: She was asking the Lord to free her husband's addiction to alcohol, but after asking, he appeared with a bottle of rum at home.

Desperate, she complained: I asked God to release my husband, and now he gets worse bringing a bottle in his hand? 

Then after that, she gave up to pray for her husband.

But as time went by, she asked God to heal her family, asked also by his own illness that she had, for a financial miracle and so on, however, she hoped and gave up their petitions.

One day the woman died, but as she was faithful to God, she went to the Kingdom of Heaven. Arriving there, the Lord sent an angel to receive her. When she was coming to the sidewalk, the angel was leading him into a beautiful mansion and then she asks:

"Am I going to live here? The angel replied yes and then was taking her to a room and another, because all were full of packages. As all rooms were full of packages, the angel led her to the kitchen and pantry, but it was impossible to enter due to the large number of packages.

At one point she asked the angel what those packages were and that she would like to open them. Then the angel helped her to open up some of the package, so the angel said to her: "This package was here for your husband, this other here is for your cure, this other one is for your family cure, but you could not wait for me to give.

They were all ready, but you give up to pray…

Dear reader, this story is just an illustration that we should ask and wait and although she was a woman faithful to the Lord, it is written in the Bible that without faith it is impossible to please God, and perseverance is a virtue.

Who has ears shall listen to the word of God.

Overcoming your problems

Suffering is increasing everywhere and it does not respect age or social class. All over the world people are suffering with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, panic disorder and suicidal attempt/thoughts. 

I remember a sad true story about a ten years old child in America who committed suicide. 

He was having family problems and was being a victim of bulling in school. His story isn’t different from many others who think that to end with their life will be the solution.

You may look into your life and just see problems and consequently you have the feelings that there is no hope for you. Your financial life, marriage, family, health… everything seems to be collapsing down. Perhaps you had so many dreams and now you see yourself into a nightmare in which you just can’t wake up from it. And the worse of the feelings is to feel totally HELPLESS.

The worse lie is when we lie to ourselves. Thinking that dying will be the only way or the only solution is not true! Always there is a way out even if you are at the rock bottom.

Actually it isn’t the end in being down there. 

The good thing of reaching the end of the well is that we won’t have how to look down anymore and the only place to look now is upwards.

By looking upwards we may think it’s just impossible to climb and reach the exit. What to do then? We have to shout and shout and keeping shouting until someone listen and help us.

There are some situations in life that a human being can’t help us. Only God can. And just like I said above, we have to shout and shout and keeping shouting by means of constantly prayers until God to stand his hands to give us rescue.

Don’t think that God doesn’t care or He is too busy or that He doesn’t exist. He does exist and the reason why He perhaps is not really helping you is because of your deeds. See what the bible says:

Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy,that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, So that He will not hear. Isaiah 59:1-2

Don’t think that you are too sinful to receive His mercy He is always eager to answer when we come to him with sincerity of heart. Ask for forgiveness and stop doing whatever is wrong.

"Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. "Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light." 

Mathew 11:28-29

Cry out for help (pray), not just once, but until the help appears for you. Persevere even when everything around you is darkening. Pray without ceasing and do not doubt. You may not see the answer right away, but as I said above, keep shouting and the help will come to you.

"And whatever things you ask in prayer,

believing, you will receive."

According to the Eclesia Magazine our church is now the biggest one in Brazil, it is growing in a amazing way. Our mission is to spread the word of God through out this world because Jesus is coming soon.

Revelation 22:12  "And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.

Planning your future

When we plan our life ahead and diligently set goals and targets, we will succeed. But on the other hand, if we failure to plan and let ourselves be driven by the emotions of the moment, we will certainly cry tears of frustration. See what the Bible says:

Proverbs 21:5 “The plans of the diligent lead surely to plenty, but those of everyone who is hasty, surely to poverty.”

 This verse of the Bible is really powerful because it shows why some succeed in life and others may perish. Nothing should be done hastily, but with wisdom.

I have seen some teenagers ending up with their future just because they are too in hurry to find someone to get married with, or they even get married with the first person they think that will provide a good financial life for them, and others, may get married just because they simply cannot bear to live under the same roof with their family.

They just want a quickly solution for their problems not knowing that actually the problem are just beginning. Some enter into parenthood without any plan or financial condition, and later they and their kids suffer in a horrible way.

Plans are not only settled when we are in our teens.

Adults should plan wisely as well. We have seen people sank in debts and consequently losing everything because of lack of planning first.

Our life is definitely a matter of choice and some choices are simply hard to come back from it. Every step we give, no matter in which area of our life, we should always to consult first the counsel of God through prayers and the counseling of someone more experienced. Let’s examine these verses of the Bible:

Proverbs 15:22 “Without counsel, plans go awry, But in the multitude of counselors they are established”.

Proverbs 19:20 “Listen to counsel and receive instruction, that you may be wise in your latter days”.

As we can see, we should first to search for counseling than we may set plans.  I would like to post in this article some of the areas we should plan carefully:

Love Life: Don’t let yourself be driven by emotions. Consider well why you are dating this person and be honest to yourself. Think and pray, then, take your conclusions if this relationship will be good for you and for the future family you intend to rise. Have in mind that hardly we can change someone.

Don’t fool yourself thinking that you will have the “power” to transform him/her into a better person. Unfortunately things don’t work in this way. We have what we’ve got!

Family: Raising a family is something wonderful, but it isn’t just to make some children and that’s all. Think first if you can afford to provide to them love, food, cloths, school and shelter. See if you and your partner have maturity to provide a health family standards for them. On the contrary, you will be raising a revolted child that will suffer in this world thus; he may get revolted against you and against the society.

Your money: Never expend more than what you receive. That is already a good start for you to avoid financial problems. If we spend our money wisely we will enjoy a better life. We have to consider if we really need to buy that staff. If you are married and depend on his/hers allowance it is a good thing to plan together before buying anything that costs a lot. 

By doing so, you will avoid quarrels and debts. Be careful with the advertising that offer quick cash, they may land you money but later you will be trapped by their charges. As I wrote above, quick solution sometimes leads to a bigger problem.  Addictions also lead to financial, family and health problems; if you suffer from any addiction, seek for health and spiritual help.

We are all prone to mistakes and perhaps you’ve done some in your life that is making you cry by now. I want you to know that it is never late to restart. We all can move upwards again.

You may ask how?

Well, the first thing is to sincerely and wholeheartedly seek for God’s help by fervently praying and acknowledging your faults. Then, admit that you need Him. Read the Bible, because the Word of God is powerful and capable to change your life.

Come to the church and receive counseling and prayers. 

Change your habits. Whatever you are doing that is not correct you shall stop it and start do the right thing.

God has great things for your life, but it depends on you to give the first step towards Him.

Isaiah 55:9 "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts”.

The Victory will be yours!

Are we Prepared for that?

    Matthew 24:37 "But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

Matthew 24:38 "For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,until the day that Noah entered the ark,and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

The story of Noah is a well know story, even  the children knows about that, but have we paid close attention to truth of this fact?  The people on Earth were living their lives completely unconcerned about the Day of the Lord.

Noah were telling them about the flood and he was building the ark, but no one gave ears to him, until the day God commanded Noah to enter in the ark with his family. According to the Bible only eight people were saved.

2 Peter 2:5  and God did not spare the ancient world, but saved Noah, one of eight people, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood on the world of the ungodly;

Today the story is being repeated, all over the world by means of the Bible, television, radio, churches, preachers and missionaries; almost every where the Word of God has been preached, but unfortunately, many again, are not listening and prefer to live under the pleasures of this world.

We have seen signs that the end is very near and destruction is everywhere, see what the bible says:

Luke 21:10-11 Then He said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom." And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven.

Please give a look on this video, it happened in the sky of Moscow, Russia.The scientists found no answer for what happened...

What do you thing about this video?

When the saved ones will be taken to heavens (rapture) the others will be left behind and according to the Bible a great tribulation as the world never saw before will take place.

Real suffering will be upon those who are left here.  The Second World War was a scenario of suffering and genocide; Jews were burnt alive in the Concentration Camps and great terror was upon all nations.

But nothing will be compared to great tribulation:

Matthew 24:21 "For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 

Matthew 24:29 "Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

As we can see, a scenario of great terror and anguish will be upon those who will be left behind on this earth.    But this is not the end! A chip will be implanted on the right hand or on the forehead and it is called:

the Mark of the Beast

Those who will accept this mark will be judged and thrown in the lake of fire which is the second death.

Revelation 13:16  He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,

Revelation 13:17  and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Revelation 13:18  Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is six hundred and sixty-six. 

Just like we’ve mentioned in the beginning of this article, the people were living completely unconcerned just like people are living in our days. The time for these things to happen is unknown, but it will happen when most of us will be not vigilantes enough.

Mark 13:32-33 "But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father". Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is.

God doesn’t want us to perish in this great tribulation and for this reason He is sending preachers all over the world to speak the truth. Accept the Lord and repent from your wrongdoings.

As we’ve discussed in other articles of this blog, we are the ones responsible for our destruction. We have the free will to choose between the right and the wrong. Choose the right way and you will be happy forever.

Marriage and Love

 I just read an article on the internet and in that article the author wrote that the number of divorce is substantially increasing throughout the years. He also said that if it keeps in this rhythm, probably marriages won’t last more than five years.

It makes me wonder: what is really happening? As we have previously post in this blog, the devil suggest situations that we can choose or not to do. 

He may send on our way a flirting person in order to make us fall into temptation, but it’s really up to each one of us if we want to follow the road of destruction in order to have some hours of deceiving pleasure or if we want to do the right choice and send the flirting person away from our lives.

Corinthians 10:13  No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

We all are going to be tempted, but as we can see, there will be always a way to escape. What makes a marriage to last is to safeguard it. If we do not safeguard our relationship with our spouses, it will shipwreck sooner or later.

We may ask: How to keep the flames of love in our marriage still burning? Marriage and love is a very delicate plant that needs constant care. If we neglect the proper care it will die.

As I wrote about closing the doorways; in our relationship with our spouse we also have to close the doorways that may contribute to marriage problems.

These are some of the common mistakes a person may do, and consequently end up destroying a marriage:

Loving more your kids:   

Kids are a blessing that our Lord gave to us, but never love more or give more attention to them than to your spouse.

Friends:

Choose the right person to be your friend. If this friend of yours are constantly between you and your spouse, and if you prefer your friends than your husband/wife; it’s time to open the eyes and see that this friendship is destroying your life! We shall love the presence of our spouses and we have to rejoice in spend time with them. A true friend does what is good for his friends and never led them to destruction.

Internet:

Internet is a wonderful tool in hand. But unfortunately many families are being destroyed because of its misuse. If there is something on the internet that is putting your marriage at risk, you shall stop it immediately. Remember: safeguard your marriage.

Flirtation:

The only person we can flirt with is our spouses! If you allow yourself being flirting by other person you will be playing with fire and nevertheless you will hurt yourself and your family.

TV:

Watching TV is something very nice, but we have to choose what kind of TV program is health for our family. These days I saw in the television a famous series about wives that while their husbands are working the wives are flirting and cheating around. That is really a decadency. And the media claims that this should be the women of the future! Free to do everything. If you spend your time watching this kind of program you will see that very soon you will find yourself in a trap.

Lack of communication:

I can’t understand why some couples don’t talk with each other! Couples should participate on each other lives. Get interested with the job and other things that your spouse likes. If he/she likes computer, than talk about computer; if he/she likes fashion, than talk about fashion. Talk with each other, ask things to each other. Do not limit your conversation only about your kids. As I have said, participate on each other lives.

Seek God. If you are living in the edge of a divorce or up to comity adultery, God can give you a happy life. He is eager to stand His hands and to rescue from your problems.

Mark 10:27 But Jesus looked at them and said, "With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible."

Do not be afraid. The Lord stands for you!

Psalms 118:6 “The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”

Fear is definitely one of the strongest weapons a person can give into the devil’s hands. When a person is driven by fear she/he looses power. Fear is as powerful as supernatural faith, while supernatural faith lead us to victory, fear lead us to destruction.

When a person is driven by fear, she/he acts cowardly. Take a look on what the Bible says about the cowards:  

Revelation 21:8 “But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death."

As we can observe, God treats the cowards with no difference from a murderers. We all have to take this verse of the Bible for granted. Many people think that they may lose their salvation only by committing something they judge as too sinful. We have to remember that our Lord sees things from a different angle and His thoughts are definitely different from ours.

You may ask: why does God is so strict? And you may think: What is wrong on being afraid?

God hates and will send the cowards to the lake of fire because they usually LIE, they hide the truth, they do not stand the hands to help others because they are too afraid of compromising themselves, they are too concerned of what others will think about them… in few words, the cowardly are always concerned about HIMSELF.

I believe now you can understand why a person who is driven by fear is so detestable to God. The Bible teaches us that there is only one that we shall fear:

Luke 12:5 “But I will show you whom you should fear: Fear Him who, after He has killed, has power to cast into hell; yes, I say to you, fear Him!

We shall fear the Lord, and the Lord alone!  Very often people tend to fear one another, they forget that the human being is just clay; they often fear more the man than the Lord!

Let us see what the Bible says about that:

Psalms 56:11 “In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?”

 

Hebrews 13:6 “So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?"

My dear friends do not fear the human being. Fear the Lord! God has power to change your life and make you a blessing.

Perhaps you have deteriorating your life or a relationship due to your fears. Our God is a merciful God and he is giving you the chance of having a happy life today.

 When we are afraid we become depressed and oppressed. And it’s definitely not a way of living. That isn’t a kind of life that our God has designed to each one of us.

Look what the Bible says in Isaiah 43:1-2

“But now, thus says the LORD, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, nor shall the flame scorch you.

As we can see, you and I will pass through hard times in life, but whatever may come against us, won’t have power to do any harm.

We aren’t created to live under intimidation or oppression, and for this reason we shall not allow anyone to put a burden over our lives.

Our Lord Jesus said: 

Matthew 11:30 "For My yoke is easy and My burden is light."

Therefore, we can vividly say: What can man do to me?! If your life is in God’s hands, no one can touch what belongs to God!
