Spiritual weakness

Very often we have the tendency of getting lazy towards our spiritual life and this state of laziness can lead us to our spiritual death.

Some people may think that they are too busy in solving their own problems that they find themselves without time to pray, to read the bible and attend a church.

Others may feel so overwhelmed by their hardships that they may feel discouraged in trust in God in times of troubles.

Some others may think they are already blessed and they already possess whatever they need, and therefore, they don’t need to seek the Lord anymore; or perhaps they let themselves to be overcome by a temptation and now the feelings of guilt makes them to feel ashamed to present themselves before God.

Many are the factors that can lead a person to stay far from God, but the reasons don’t really matter, because in the end we are the ones responsible for our spiritual weakness.

Mathew 26: 41 says: "Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak."

The weakness of our flesh can make our spiritual life weak, but Jesus taught us to watch and pray and by doing so we would not fall into temptation.

Or spiritual sickness starts when we stop observing this simple rule: WATCH AND PRAY. Once we miss the point here, we officially open all the doors for the evil to come into our lives.

Our prayers are like spiritual food for our spirit, once we stop praying our spirit becomes “anemic” and once our spirit is sick the evil can easily infiltrate itself into our lives.

Ephesians 4:27 says: "nor give place to the devil."

The evil will not invade our lives; we are the ones who will allow it to come or not. Therefore we are taught to do not give space for the devil.

Our flesh is indeed weak, but it is not an excuse for us to let ourselves to be dominated by its weaknesses.

2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

We make ourselves strong when we have a constant relationship with God. An unprotected mind can be a great tool in the devil’s hands.

“An empty mind is the devil’s workplace”. That is a well known phrase and it is totally true, it can be a playground for evil thoughts.

Our mind is fickle and flighty, it flies after fancies wherever it likes: it is difficult indeed to restrain. But it is a great good to control the mind; a mind self-controlled is a source of great joy.

Self control is a gift that the Holy Spirit gave to us, our mind can fly away in territories that can displease our Lord, but it compete to us control it

We have to pray and be very watchful in order to address our spiritual weakness. Once we spot where we are failing, we can work it out in order to strengthen it.

Matthew 24:44 "Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at
an hour you do not expect.

Watch and pray!

Be blessed in Jesus Name.
